General Info
What is the Tri-City Motor Rodeo?
The Tri-City Motor Rodeo is an annual police officer motorcycle skills competition that brings together law enforcement agencies to promote camaraderie, professionalism, and safe motorcycle handling. It features cone pattern challenges, competitions, and a supportive environment for officers and their families.
When and where is the 2026 event?
-
Date: Thursday, April 23, 2026
-
Location: Rose Bowl – Lot K, 1001 Rose Bowl Dr., Pasadena, CA 91103
-
Registration opens at 7:00 AM, with the Opening Ceremony at 8:30 AM.
Is the event open to the public?
The Tri-City Motor Rodeo is primarily a closed event for participating law enforcement officers, their families, approved vendors, and event staff — there is no formal public admission, ticketing, or open invitation for general spectators. However, the Rose Bowl Lot K location is not fully closed or restricted.
Can civilians or non-participants watch the competition?
Yes — civilians who are not part of the event are welcome to observe from a safe distance. You are encouraged to stay outside the designated riding area (behind the barricades and cone patterns) for safety reasons. There is no hard closure, so viewing the skills demonstrations and competition is easily possible from those perimeter areas. Come support the riders, but please respect the boundaries and event flow.
Who can attend or participate?
Participation (competition and vending) is limited to registered law enforcement motorcycle officers, approved vendors, and event-affiliated individuals. Family members of competitors are typically welcome to support on-site.
Will the cone patterns be be released prior to the event?
Yes. We will release all 6 cone patterns approximately a couple of weeks before the event. This gives every participant the chance to recreate the patterns at their own location and practice ahead of time for the best possible performance on event day.
Check the website regularly for the official diagrams and full details — they will be posted in the Information section as soon as they're ready.
Can participants practice the patterns on the morning of the event?
Yes — participants should arrive early to practice the cone patterns. Practice is open from 6:00 AM until the Opening Ceremony at 8:30 AM. You can ride the patterns as many times as needed during this time to warm up and get familiar with the course.
Once the competition officially begins after the Opening Ceremony, practice ends. Each participant gets one chance to complete each pattern for official scoring. This single-attempt format ensures every rider has a fair opportunity to go through the patterns in the morning without unnecessary delays.
