TRI-CITY MOTOR RODEO

Competition info

Rules & patterns

Four events: solo cone patterns, the team competition, Last Motor Riding, and the tether run.

Morning

Cone patterns

  • Six patterns. Practice is open 6:00 AM–8:30 AM; ride them as much as you want.
  • Once competition starts you get one scored run per pattern. No do-overs (alibis apply).
  • Ties for top score go head-to-head in a “super special” ride-off.
Scoring per pattern
Clean ride10 points
Touch a cone−1
Knock a cone down−3
Foot down−5
Out of pattern or bike down−10 (zero for that pattern)

All six patterns ridden clean is a perfect 60.

Optional

Team competition

  • Grab two buddies and form a team of three.
  • All three ride the same six patterns, entering and exiting each pattern together.
  • Each pattern is worth up to 10 points with the same deductions as solo, for a maximum of 60.

Afternoon

Last Motor Riding

Two large top-gun boxes. Depending on sign-ups, 6–10 riders start at once inside a box. The goal: be the last motor still riding.

You're out if:

  • You put a foot down
  • You knock a cone over
  • You drop the bike
  • You hit another bike

Brake check, block, cut off, and outride to force a foot down. Just don't touch. When you're out, you stay put, bike and all, and become another obstacle. Heat winners meet in the final box to crown the overall champ.

Morning & afternoon

Tether competition

  • Two motorcycles connected by a Velcro tether (length announced the morning of the event).
  • Short pattern with multiple turns, run against the clock.
  • Each team gets two runs; the fastest clean run counts.

No time if:

  • Tether breaks
  • Out of pattern
  • Bike down
  • Foot down
  • Delineator touched or knocked down

Patterns and events are subject to change on the day of the event due to logistics, weather, or other unforeseen circumstances, without prior notice.

2026 cone patterns

The 2027 patterns will be posted here about two weeks before the event. In the meantime, here are last year's patterns for practice.
